Property in the Eastern Algarve

The Eastern Algarve spans from east of Faro through Olhão to Vila Real de Santo António which borders Spain. The Ria Formosa Natural Park with marshlands and islets dotted throughout most of this area makes this a haven for wildlife and serves as a migratory and breeding ground for many rare bird species. The Eastern Algarve is quieter and less developed, although in recent years low density quality developments and golf courses have been introduced to the area.

Olhão, like most of the coastal Algarve, has a strong history linked to the fishing industry. A bustling town, it has become increasingly popular with investors due to the regeneration of the old fishing quay into prime development and a new marina. It is also the gateways to the unspoilt beaches of Armona and Culatra islands via a ferry link service

East of Olhão sits the pretty fishing village of Fuseta, again a now popular tourist destination.

Many regard the historic town of Tavira, as the Algarve’s prettiest town. Divided by the river Gilão and served by two bridges one of which was built by the Romans it is full of charm and character. As well as the older town properties, there are quality new developments in and around the town.

Inland in the Eastern Algarve you’ll find the picturesque villages of Moncarapacho and Estoi offering a taste of traditional village life. In the surrounding countryside there are attrative private developments, rural hotels and spas making the most of the tranquility and views.

Back to the coast and further east sits Monte Gordo, the most developed holiday town in Eastern Algarve. Monte Gordo has a casino, high-rise hotels, affordable real estate and a large clean beach.

Castro Marim is a small pretty village a little way inland with highlights including the castle ruins, Reserva Natural do Sapal (a nature reserve), and the Castro Marim Golf and Country Club.

Overall many investors still see the Eastern Algarve as offering some of the best value for money in real estate terms in the Algarve.
