Property in the Western Algarve

The Western Algarve boasts dramatic rock formations and towering cliffs that give the beaches a wilder, untamed feel and scenic countryside. The Western Algarve area is slightly cooler than the rest of the Algarve. It has become increasingly popular and has seen significant development with a new airport scheduled to open near Portimao, a formula one race track and new coastal and countryside properties.

The Western Algarve stretches from west of Albufeira all the way to Cabo de São Vicente and north to Odeceixe.

Carvoeiro is perched on a cliff which adds to the dramatic beauty of this traditional whitewashed village. There are quality new developments around it and a small sheltered beach in the centre. Further west sits Ferragudo, a picturesque village overlooking the River Arade. The development of a new marina, hotel, villas, apartments and shopping area makes this a Western Algarve investment hotspot.

Inland the towns of Silves and Monchique nestle amongst fruit orchards and lush wooded hillsides. These tranquil areas are very popular with expats and are gaining real estate prominence particularly with eco-friendly developers.

Back on the coast and heading west lies Praia da Rocha with its emblematic beach of the same name and striking rock formations. Here there is established real estate market with a greater focus recently on low density developments. Portimão marina is also just around the corner.

Renowned for its diverse flora and fauna its property market is of particular appeal to nature lovers and those searching for a tranquil home in the sun.
